Aswani Aswath is an educator and a playwright. Her plays include Angry Indian Woman – The Trial for the Singapore Writers Festival’s Night Spin and Locker Room God for the Esplanade’s Kalaa Utsavam. Most recently, she completed the Playwrights’ Cove mentorship programme organised by The Necessary Stage under the tutelage of Haresh Sharma.
Since graduating from the Young Storytellers Mentorship Project in 2017, Aswani has discovered the value of drawing connections across ancient folklores and contemporary social issues, and she experiments with various ways of interweaving mythology and storytelling elements into her scripts. For an introvert like herself, oral storytelling has given her the power to discover her own voice and deepen her bond with audiences.
